Spot The Horse

A few weeks ago saw the third Bloggers' Weekend, when I met up with some lovely fellow scrappers for a few days of cutting and sticking.  Our first get-together was back in November 2011 and I told the story of meeting up near Ironbridge here.  Our reunion (with a couple of new faces to make up for missing some of the original Telford Ten) happened in March 2013, and this year it fell to me to organise the third get-together.

Each time we've met, Ruth has challenged us to bring a set of "items" for  everyone else to include in a project ... so this year there were 12 random objects to be added to a page ... can you spot a flair badge, some scraps of silk and cotton fabric, a plastic key-ring, a heart-shaped button and bead, a brad, a paper tag, some baker's twine, a wood veneer cat, heart and horse?

Stuck?! Sketch - September 1st 2014The page is based on the September 1st sketch from Stuck! Sketches which was perfect for including so many elements (though I moved the journalling and split my title) and ties in with the autumnal September House Challenge over on UKSCrappers.  My bag of red paper scraps is a lot emptier now!

Not all of my objects matched my colour scheme, so I got inky and messy with the tag, the wooden heart and the cat.  I chopped the heart-shaped bead in two and coloured it and the button with a black Sharpie.  Meanwhile the orange cotton found its way inside the keyring fob and some silk helped cover up the brad.

Are you still looking for the horse?  A careful decapitation and quadruple leg amputation transformed it into to a (blood-stained) arrow!!!

Who Me?!

Jimjams - Layout detail - layered papers
Welcome to the start of June's Members' Blog Hop from the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog .
I chose the third challenge this month to line up my embellishments on my layout, using photos I took last month whilst visiting No.1 Son and his lovely girlfriend in their new home.
They have two amazing Bengal kittens, full of energy and personality and we had a great time playing with them (though the tom doesn't seem to know how to play with retracted claws!!!).  It didn't take them long to commandeer the two chairs we'd brought up from our house to theirs.

Having liked the effect of layering punched vellum circles on my previous page, I layered the vellum from my June Counterfeit Kit over one of the patterned papers.   This page started life as the June 1st  sketch from Stuck?! Sketches - there's still time to link up if you fancy a go.  As for the lining up ... those eyelets are in a straight line!

I wonder which of this month's challenges will feature on the next stop on the hop: Tina's blog.

If you get lost whilst hopping the full order is published on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog today.

P.S. There's still time to have a go with the S J Crafts June Challenge and be in with a chance of a prize ... check it out ... and check out the winner & favourites from May's challenge  here !!

Magical Meet & Greet

Another page from our Disney 2004 holiday - using some of the hexagons that I've been cutting - along with inspiration from the (rotated) February sketch from Stuck?! Sketches Check them out - their sketches are great!

Layout - Meet & Greet - Jimjams

My photos were larger than the sketch required so they needed overlapping and some jaunty angles to fit.  The title alphas are a mishmash of different chipboard sets adapted for my page: the M is a W, the Es are &s and those Ts started life as 4s!  Lots of inking was required to get them to be similar colours - it wasn't evenly done as some were bare chipboard and others had a white base layer.  I should could have prepped them with white acrylic but I'm OK with the grungy, uneven look - it goes with the red paper.  All supplies are from my February Counterfeit Kit apart from the thumbs-up paper-clip, the alphas, and a variety of Pharmacy stamps.

P.S. There's still time to sign up for the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Members Blog Hop - check out the challenge here.  { I'm planning another go with this - I reckon Hubby might appreciate a Valentine's card with a list of why I ♥ him ... no photo, just a list ... I'm sure that will count for the challenge :o) }
