And stayed out.
Along with the TV, the heating, the cordless telephone, the internet router and Child No.3's laptop!
So it was time to break out the candles ...
... and the wind-up lanterns. Luckily we have a gas hob, so hot water bottles and cups of tea were available. By morning the power had been restored and we were grateful that only one panel of the (neighbour's) fence had blown down. Other neighbours were less fortunate and lost roof tiles whilst for many others in the region the damage was worse and the power cuts longer.
I wonder how many others will zoom in and out on the effects of the UK storm this week?

Oh Jemma..that's awful..I'm so glad you escaped relatively unscathed! I can't believe the devastation we are seeing on the news about how bad it is all over the country! Good subject photo though! Well done.
Glad you were all Ok ... This has been our best winter for a long time up here, which seems very ironic, given what everyone else is undergoing. Your photos glow!
Glad you had candles and hot water bottles - and were relatively unscathed.
glad to hear you only lost power overnight - the storms sound so awful but, like Alexa, we are not feeling any of it up here
Glad you has other lights and something to make a cuppa.
Roof coping stones and tiles missing on a few houses and trees causing damage to houses.Lucky no flooding here though.

It's good to hear that you stayed safe. We've been very lucky here and have escaped almost all of it
bloomin weather has been a nightmare!! Glad everything was ok xxx
Makes me cold to think of it. We were once without power for 11 days after an ice storm. I don't ever want to repeat it! I'm quite sure we had nothing as beautiful as your candlescape, however.
oh no! poor you - hope all is well for you now - I feel so lucky we've come through unscathed this winter when some have had so many difficulties. It's amazing that out of adversity came these beautiful photographs though - clever you! :o)
Great photos capturing the warmth and safety of being indoors on such a grim night! We have been so lucky compared to many!
Great photos! Glad to hear you came through the storms safe
Great pics...and glad you got your power back on relatively quickly!

I wonder how many people will be featuring the storms and power cuts in their scrapping for this January?! I know I will. Glad you are all ok.
