Between The Lines

A final contribution to
Julie's Month of Sunrays
The third of the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog monthly challenges is to get colouring.  I've been borrowing Child No.3's Promarkers a lot recently and decided to see what would happen if I used her extra fine nibs with the pretty patterns to be found inside business envelopes.  I picked out a lovely hexagon pattern and had fun making some sunny flowers.  A few scraps from my February Kit and a card was born.

I'm not certain that colouring in each hexagon individually was worth it, but I do like that the pattern shows on the punched leaves & circles: free, recycled, subtly patterned papers coloured to match perfectly!!

Well, you are a wise one! It looks great and sounds like an economical card to make.

At first glance on the Counterfeit blog I thought you had used Hamma beads for the flowers. Colouring can be very relaxing so, combining that with the look on the punched out leaves, I guess it could be worth it.

Like the idea of recycling envelopes I have tried to use them myself but not so well as you have here.

What a great idea - you could create some lovely cross-stitch sampler designs like using that method [if you had time to kill!] Thanks for the contributions to the series, you're safely pinned now: http://pinterest.com/notesonpaper/a-month-of-sunrays/

Recycling serendipity! What a great idea and such pretty results.
I like "colouring in" - I should really do it more often.
Somewhere, I have some great little paper flowers, made by Helen, of Etsy shop "Badbooks" (http://www.etsy.com/shop/badbooks?section_id=6016317 - she still sells them!). They're made from the insides of envelopes and are in shades of blue. Very pretty.
It's great what you can do with everyday things, if you think outside the box a bit.
Love the card, Jemma. Definitely a Sun-ray!

I used to spend hours colouring such patterns - lovely mindless play.

Pretty card - and such a neat idea for upcycling.
